Job Description


We are currently seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to manage a small team of 2, to ensure that our client’s property, facilities management, employees occupational health & safety and visitor safety is met on a daily basis, including all activities and undertakings of the company such as events and functions.


Reporting to the FM Director the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the organization is compliant with current Occupational Health & Safety legislation by striving to exceed best practice in all aspects of Health Safety and Welfare throughout the company. He or she will manage the strategic Health and Safety Policy and practices, develop and deliver the education and training necessary to achieve long term goals and objectives whilst undertaking the responsibility for all Health & Safety compliance and the prevention of incidents and accidents at all properties.


  • Manage the Health and Safety Team, giving exceptional levels of oversight, support and guidance
  • Ensure the Health and Safety compliance of all staff, visitors and contractors
  • Manage the risk assessments portfolio for all company activities and operations
  • Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation via training and communication
  • Manage Workstation Assessments in accordance with DSE regulations
  • Liaise with catering, cleaning and maintenance contractors to ensure major event day and non-major event day operations are complying with legislation and policies
  • Provide Health and Safety information to all relevant stakeholders
  • Produce and deliver reports to Senior Management Team and to stakeholders including; incidents and maintenance requirements and Trend management
  • Assisting with business continuity planning
  • Responsible for regular review of all the company's occupational health and safety arrangements and practices
  • Manage all public and employee Insurance claims resulting from personal injury or property damage
  • Always lead by example and exercise one's own duty of care to one's self and others


  • Skilled communicator and presenter, able to liaise with internal colleagues across number of departments and ensure that requirements are understood
  • Able to work with external companies and enforcement agencies
  • Excellent diplomacy and influencing skills, with a proven track record of raising the profile of H&S at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Ability to plan and organise work and prioritise to meet objectives and deliver required results
  • Sound resource management and planning skills, such as general administration and record keeping
  • Culturally aware with a strong work-ethic and the flexibility to work anti-social hours


  • Candidates MUST hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience of successfully developing and managing a team of health and safety practitioners
  • Previous operational occupational Health and Safety and risk management.
  • Experience in Health and Safety within a facilities management field including reviewing and developing H&S Policies and conducting Fire Risk Assessments
  • Working with local enforcement agencies, including the emergency services
  • Experience of creating and delivering training courses


  • Post graduate education in occupational safety and health (MSc) or achievement or working towards a Chartered membership of IOSH
  • Experience of working within the leisure and entertainment industry
  • Holding a lead auditor qualification and experience in carrying out compliance audits


  • A basic salary to £65,000 along with a comprehensive benefits package.
