An exciting opportunity is available with our client for an experienced National Head of Health and Safety to join the Senior Management team
The role will be office based with national travel required with the successful candidate taking a leading role to ensure the consistent delivery of the highest standards of service to clients and internal business partners complying with health and safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain H&S (OHSAS 18001) management systems for Security Solutions Business Unit.
- Maintain accreditation schemes where applicable in Business Unit and assist with GB Compliance where relevant.
- Lead on projects such as:
- Creating efficient Accident / Incident / Near Miss Reporting process.
- H&S auditing tools & processes.
- Creation of safety moments and toolbox talks
- Monitor sub-contractors and evaluate performance against stringent H&S systems.
- Oversee accident management & to identify trends and follow up where applicable and relevant.
- Ensure that all RIDDORs are reported in a timely fashion to comply with legislation.
- Provide clear and regular H&S communications to employees.
- Liaise with external bodies such as local authorities, HSE and UKAS accreditation bodies.
- Work towards continuous improvement of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
- Support operational and senior management to ensure they are well informed to take accountability of their health and safety responsibilities.
- Visit client sites to support the QHSE function across a diverse range of businesses, from small value clients to multi-million-pound clients.
- Respond promptly to any emergency situations and provide a calm and considered approach to deal with it efficiently and effectively
Essential Skills Required
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent).
- Chartered Member of IOSH (or similar).
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001& OHSAS 18001
